Just before Saturday's televised game on ESPN, New York's Layshia Clarendon and Seattle's Breanna Stewart, both members of the WNBA's new Social Justice Council, spoke about the "Say Her Name" campaign and asked for a moment of "recognition" for 26 seconds.
Taylor, a 26-year-old Black emergency medical technician, was killed on 13 March after police officers entered her apartment, executing a "no-knock" search warrant. "Black Lives Matter" will also feature prominently on the court.
The players had her name printed on the backs of their jerseys under their own.
"We are dedicating this season to Breonna Taylor, an outstanding EMT who was murdered over 130 days ago in her home", Clarendon said.

Before the start of its 2020 campaign on Saturday, the WNBA dedicated the season to Breonna Taylor and the Say Her Name movement, which raises awareness for Black female victims of police violence.
Sabrina Ionescu saw more action than any other player in her WNBA debut.

The WNBA's walk-off follows several Major League Baseball teams kneeling prior to their games to show unity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
