India adds 18,552 new Covid cases, tally crosses 5 lakh

The number of coronavirus infections in India has reached 509,306 after more than 18,500 new cases were added to the tally, government figures, released on Saturday, have shown. The country saw a surge of 3,38,324 infections from June 1 till date.

The number of active cases stands at 2,03,051, while 3,09,712 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, according to the updated data.

The health ministry said it also briefed the GOM during its 17th meeting about the recovery and mortality rates, doubling rate and ramped up testing in various states.

Bengaluru had 1556 COVID-19 cases as on June 23 which doubled to 3419 cases as on June 28, which is 25.92% of total cases in Karnataka.
