The design looks similar to the current DualShock 4, but two extra buttons on it, reports said on Monday.
Sony has come up again with the new controller plug-in announced recently. It looks like the company has filed for another with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). According to DualShockers, the former Worldwide Studios chief reiterated how complicated the PlayStation 3 was to develop for, and how steps were taken to rectify this with the PlayStation 4. Because of this, it may also be the case that the patent isn't depicting a DualShock 5, controller, but rather a current-generation DualShock 4 variant.
However, there is a possibility that the patent design might not be final or comprehensive.
Clemson, Trevor Lawrence downs Ohio State in Fiesta Bowl
The Buckeyes' offense managed 70 yards in the third quarter, but there were more controversial calls that got in the way. On Haubeil's first field goal, Ohio State drove 71 yards but couldn't put the ball into the end zone.
In fact, 2020 will begin in a few hours, the year that will see the arrival of PlayStation 5 on the market. It lacks the bulk of an attached accessory, but it is functionally identical, with two pedal-like buttons at the back. In addition, the focus on personalization is an interesting route for Sony, and could point towards more accessible designs for peripherals for PlayStation 5.
"The two back buttons can be activated with triggers in most of the proposed designs".
It is still nearly a year to go before we finally see the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The position and size of the keys in the patent images are much different. That would make sense, since PlayStation 4 owners are quite pleased with how it performs.

Microsoft has already promised that Xbox One-compatible controllers will continue to work with the Xbox Series X when it launches next year.
Both next-generation consoles are set for release during the 2020 holiday season, but exact release dates are still pending.
