Tottenham Hotspur's players must take responsibility to overcome a disappointing start to the season and must not use inexperience as an excuse anymore, Harry Kane has said.

Tottenham's turbulent week continued as they lost to League Two side Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.

However, they may be unable to force the former Ajax man out of the club, meaning Pochettino will have a reduced budget as he looks to rebuild the squad once the winter transfer window opens. Southampton have scored in all bar one of their opening encounters and the Saints have generated a very healthy 0.93 Expected Goals (xG) average from open play, highlighting their offensive threat.

"We can not be happy because the chance to take something here will not be that big again", he said. We played three games and went home - when we were a candidate to win it.

"That is only one game", Pochettino added. "We can not have changed too much in a few months", said the Argentine after goals by club record signing Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane inspired Spurs to a 2-1 win against Southampton - despite playing with 10 men for about an hour.

Tottenham have already seen this selection land in four of their six league outings as the hosts have recorded a sole shutout in top-flight tussles this term.

"There are issues at Tottenham - you can not hide that", added Jenas.

Tottenham were 2-0 up at Arsenal before drawing 2-2 and 1-0 ahead away to Leicester before losing 2-1 in the Premier League, while they also had a two-goal lead at Olympiakos in their Champions League group opener before drawing.

While Ndombele is back playing again - and scoring - after a thigh problem, attacking midfielder Giovani lo Celso has been limited to three substitute appearances by a hip injury, while England Under-21 left-back Ryan Sessegnon, 19, has yet to play for his club because of a hamstring problem.
